There is a lot of hidden information lurking between the lines of reviews. It's best to take a piece of paper and a pen and record your perceptions regarding reviews and then you can tally them up to get a really good idea of how good or bad a beauty really is. If you only casually read reviews without recording them, you are often times left with only the perceptions of the last couple of reviews that you read. ​​There are a lot of deceptive statements produced either in person or on web sites about what different beauty schools in Alaska will do for you in their hairdressing and esthetician programs. Check out these claims BEFORE you sign up! You must perform at least 40 machine facials in any esthetician program. SEE THE MACHINE! Is there just one machine for the entire school? Do you get a machine in your student kit? How many hair colors will you do in school? The students at MetrOasis get nearly double what their program requires. This provides you with experience. Students at some schools struggle just to get half of the required colors! How many different haircuts will you learn? Some schools just do bubble cut after bubble cut or clipper cut after clipper cut. That's not training! Are the people at the school rude when you ask them questions? Remember this is them on their BEST behavior! Things will get worse!

Don't forget that only one person leaves a review for about every 400 salon services provided, so reviews are pretty rare, and remember that reviews are left because of emotion. Most people don't leave reviews, but those who do are usually really, really happy, or really, really unhappy about their experiences. Read them carefully because you can find out a lot about the philosophies, quality, training, customer service and ethics of each school just by reading reviews. Then, when you think you've got a pretty good idea, visit each of the schools and see how YOUR experiences match up with the reviews that you've read.
